Celebrity News Prince Harry Says Diana Will Understand William Rift: Some Things We Must Experience By Noelle Devoe 20 hours ago My name is Lauren Berryhill (@keto_coach_lauren), and I am a 27 year old personal trainer and nutrition coach based in North Carolina specializing in the ketogenic diet. After losing 232 pounds and dealing with health issues, I decided to change my life by trying keto. I have now lost 103 kilos and feel healthier and stronger.
How College Students And Binge Eating Disorder Are Related By Dominique Gattuso
Ever since I was a teenager I wanted to be as thin as possible and always saw myself taller than I was. Eventually I developed binge eating disorder. I’ve been counting calories, following Weight Watchers, and other restrictive diet plans. I would severely restrict my calories, exercise excessively, and then drink.
I find myself turning to comfort foods (especially sugar) when life is stressful or emotional. I repeated this cycle for years and steadily gained weight. I would lose weight and then gain it back after losing control and binge eating. Food was so heavy that on my way home from work I stopped at gas stations and loaded up on bacon, worms, and other goodies. Then I secretly eat it all and spit it out.
When I was 23, I weighed about 50 kilos. I got pregnant and gained an extra 50 pounds because I continued to eat every trimester. I made up all the excuses (“I’m eating for two!”) and wasn’t active at all. I weighed 232 pounds when I had my son. Before diabetes, I had high cholesterol. I suffered from depression and anxiety, and my body image was the worst it had ever been.
When I became fully aware of the state of my mental health, not just my facial health, I knew I had to make a change.
Keto And Bodybuilding Helped Me Overcome Binge Eating Disorder’
I was 23 at the time and decided that if my doctor cleared things up for me, I would start eating again. First, I fell back into old yo-yo eating habits and found that I still struggled with overeating. I lost 60 pounds, but in an unhealthy way.
In December 2016, I fully accepted that I needed a real lifestyle change. I started delving into the ketogenic diet, a high-fat, low-carb, moderate-protein way of eating, because I realized my real problem was my addiction to sugar and processed foods. Keto seemed to be helping many other people kick their sugar addiction and improve their overall health, so I decided to give it a try.
Fatag kept me full and strong. I never felt the urge to drink because cutting out sugar and processed carbohydrates kept my blood sugar stable and I didn’t have strong cravings for junk food. Now I tend to eat 70-75 percent of my calories from fat, 20-25 percent from protein, and 5-10 percent from carbs each day.
About six months into my keto journey, I started lifting weights at Planet Fitness and quickly found my passion for fitness.
I Lost 190 Pounds Through Binge Eating Therapy And Small Changes’
I got certified in personal training to really gain the knowledge I needed to achieve my goals. I have been training at a great local gym called SuperFitness Gym where my workout routine is similar to bodybuilding/powerlifting style and I lift as much weight as possible. Lifting weights allows me to push myself beyond predetermined limits and I love it. Right now I can deadlift 280 lbs, bench 150 lbs, 260 lbs!
I treated my diet change like a lifestyle change. I shut down sugar and eliminated processed foods. I now eat a balanced diet high in healthy fats, which gives me the right fuel. I no longer limit my food intake based on calories.
I also stopped turning to comfort foods. Eliminating my stress foods (sugar) allowed me to find alternatives to deal with stress such as exercise, meditation, and yoga. Instead of just trying to be thin, I started to feel strong. It helped me get rid of my body image issues in *huge* ways.
I’ve been fully keto for three years and I feel great. My journey has loose skin and stretch marks, and I’m proud of it. I’m 100 percent transparent on Instagram and I’m extremely passionate about helping shape real bodies because most people who lose a lot of weight will have loose skin and stretch marks. They often need surgery to correct it. But I want women and men to know that they might as well take the results of their hard work. They are symbols of what we have overcome.
We Know The Dangers Of Eating Disorders—so Why Are We Still Celebrating Weight Loss At Any Cost?
I’m a mother of a four-year-old boy, a wife, and an entrepreneur, and I’m tired of being hated for who I am and what I look like. I was just a normal girl who decided to go for it. It took time, it wasn’t easy. I made mistakes along the way, but never did.
I realized that I have to live more for (my son, my husband, my future) and I don’t want to live a life that doesn’t make me happy. Once I started taking care of myself, everyone around me benefited. I was a better mother, wife and overall happier person.
