For this post, I reviewed energy bars with at least 10 grams of protein that can be used as post-workout recovery food or even as part of lunch when you’re stuck in your car or can’t leave your desk.

There’s no reason you NEED to start incorporating protein bars into your daily routine, but it’s great to have some healthier options available when you need them.

I rated the following bars based on taste, ingredients, nutrients, and price. This is a popular post that I will keep updating. A few companies have sent me rods for samples but none have paid me to review these products. All opinions are my own.

I skipped the bars with a million natural ingredients like Power Bar, ZonePerfect, Met-RX, Adkins, Muscle Milk, Detour, Myoplex, EAS, Probar, and Balance Bar – DO NOT eat that crap. Everyone gets automatic F’s.

KIND makes a ton of different bars – make sure you buy the ones that say PROTEIN to ensure they have at least 10 grams per bar. I love that KIND protein bars are made from real food (mostly nuts) and have a little bit of crunch. Most grocery chains carry them, although you can sometimes find them on the cereal shelf and sometimes on the “nutrition shelf” next to supplements. KIND is one of the cheapest options when it comes to good bars, and you can even find them in airport snack bars, Starbucks, and gas stations.

Best Protein Bars For Women 2022

Zing Bars Zing Bars were developed by Registered Dietitians who couldn’t find a suitable snack to recommend to their clients. What sets these bars apart is the added iron (15% of the daily requirement in one bar). They are non-GMO and get most of their protein from seeds, nuts, and pea protein. I haven’t found a flavor that I don’t like. The downside is you have to go to a specialty store like Whole Foods to find them, but Amazon has them for $24 for a 12-pack.

RXBAR Only 8 ingredients? Sold. I love RxBar’s no-nonsense packaging and simple message. They contain no gluten, soy, dairy, or added sugar, and they get most of their protein from egg whites. A real food bar that delivers real fuel. They don’t have the intense sweetness or bitter aftertaste of some sucralose-based protein bars on the market, but they do have a chewy texture that some people don’t like. RXBARs are available individually at most grocery stores, including Trader Joes. Dark chocolate, sea salt, and chocolate cherry are my favorite flavors.

Oatmega Bar Oatmegabar tops the list because they are the best tasting bars and contain 14 grams of protein and 7 grams of fiber. They also have sustainably produced omega-3 fatty acids, which makes them stand out. The protein comes from New Zealand grass-fed whey with a minimum of 5 grams of sugar and no artificial sweeteners. My favorite flavor is chocolate mint with white chocolate, raspberry, and cinnamon roll for the podium. Of all the bars on this list, Oatmega is the one my clients enjoy the most. Before the pandemic, they were easy to find in stores, but now it seems they’re mostly sold on Amazon. They’re still on the cheap end at around $2 per individual bar, $6 for a 4-pack, or $20 for a 12-pack.

NuGo Slim Good: 190 calories, 16 grams of protein, 7 grams of fiber and only 2 grams of sugar. I loved the intense dark chocolate flavor in the raspberry truffle and brownie crunch flavors. The Bad: The crunchy peanut butter was too dry and not that satisfying. Soy protein is the most important source of protein. They’re harder to find in stores, and remember that not all NuGo bars are created equal when it comes to flavor or nutritional value.

Best Keto Protein Bars To Buy In 2022

If you have food allergies and can’t find a vegan bar that suits your needs, I recommend making your own at The Bar Shack. You can customize any ingredient with any superfood you can think of. You can name your bar and choose a label too, which is pretty awesome.

The only time you should be eating a Clif bar is when you’re doing the activities described on the front of the bar: hiking, biking, and mountaineering. With more than 40 grams of carbohydrates, these bars are not suitable for sitting at a desk.

Can definitely curb your sweet tooth, but the ingredients are bullshit: soy protein, brown rice syrup, cane sugar, and palm kernel oil, to name a few. I give them a couple of credits for recently reducing the amount of sugar in their bars from 14 grams to 8 grams.

Quest Bar The bodybuilding and figure competitor community is obsessed with Quest. The macronutrients are pretty amazing – all under 200 calories, over 15 grams of fiber, 1 gram or less of sugar, and 20 grams of protein. They’re big and have plenty of space to fill in, so I can see why competitors love them.

No Bake Chocolate Protein Bars

The first flavor I tried (Double Chocolate Chunk) was grainy, like chewing pure protein powder. It left an odd taste in the mouth – probably from the 6 grams of erythritol and the overpowering taste of sugar alcohols. Cookies & Cream was the best flavor I’ve tried. The lemon cream pie was completely inedible. The texture reminded me of old chewing gum that has been in the car for too long.
